Prof.Sudharani Raghupathy has completed 62 years in her in dance. She performed before the visiting dignitaries to India since 1956. An A-Top artiste of the Doordarshan since 1976, her TV Serial Bharatanjali, an appreciation of Bhartanatyam, the first of its kind on Doordarshan in 1981 (13 episodes) and 1989 (8 episodes), highlights of her superior contributions to dance. She was Senior Teaching Associate of Indian Studies (Professor) by the Colgate University, New York in December 1995. Other her awards include PADMA SHRI (1988), Central Sangeet Natak Akademi award (1984), Kalaimamani (1981).

Shree Bharatalaya, her school, was founded in 1970.
